IOSH Managing Safely
Who should attend?
This 3-day course is aimed at managers and staff who are responsible for Health & Safety at Work. It is designed specifically to introduce and build upon what safety issues need addressing, when they need addressing, who should do them and how. The course assumes and requires no prior knowledge H&S systems.
Why should you attend?
Health & Safety is a large part of every organisation, regardless of size. Getting it wrong can be costly in many ways. Delegates will receive an authoritative and up to date analysis of safety management systems, the statutory requirements, risk management and control and methods for identifying, measuring and auditing the effectiveness of safety management systems.
Course outline
This course is delivered over 3 days live on Zoom. During this course you will cover the following:
- Explain the component parts of a recognised safety management system such as HSG 65 or BS8800
- Show where risk assessment fits into the management system
- Compare safety management systems to other management systems
- Identify the data and techniques required to produce an adequate incident record and demonstrate the procedure for accident investigation
- Describe the statutory requirements for reporting
- Describe basic trend analysis
- Describe hazard and risk and the requirements for risk assessment
- Demonstrate a practical method for quantitative risk assessment
- Identify workplace precaution hierarchies & criteria for these precautions/controls
- Prepare and use active monitoring checklists and implement schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analysis records
- Explain the purposes and techniques for health and safety audit
Assessment
The following activities must be undertaken successfully in order to achieve the qualification:
- A 25 question, multiple format assessment paper
- A risk assessment based project
